The idea that the Schneerson history has been whitewashed for the sake of preserving the holiness of the Rebbes name is not much different to my experiences growing up in crown heights.
We were not taught (I was never taught) in Yeshivah anything about the Rebbes debilitating stroke in '92. I had not know AT ALL about the Rebbes condition at the end of his life.
I only discovered this chapter of the Rebbes life when I was in camp chayolei Hamelech (Meshichist summer camp) and I came across a video of the Rebbe half awake nodding to the chassidim singing Yechi. It was an INCREDIBLE shock to me to see that, similar to my experiences of reading your blogs. Discovering how much has been omitted in order to preserve the sanctity of the chasidus.
Your collective work is fascinating!
