Yes, of course. But more broadly, was Joyce speaking about Rome or about the Christian Rome? He had a Jesuit education. So he was aware of the literal display of Catholic crucifixion.

If you consider Chabad to be a Christian sect, the metaphor becomes even stronger. And so was the layered aphorism from Joyce.

Agreed. But, no Christian lives according to the historical Jesus’ teachings. There are plenty of people living according to the rebbes teachings, I think

I can think of several teachings that are ascribed to Jesus or his school and/or his students that are consistent. In fact, it is the entire Western civilization.

Where is this idea that the Jesus movement stands for nothing come from?

From Eisenman. Jesus was a xenophobic halachik extremist who hated goyim. His religion doesn’t exist anymore. Jews are better Christians than most Christians.
