The Rebbe could have shown even more courage by getting on a plane and coming to Israel during first Iraq War.Hr would have been hailed as the Messiah bu hundreds of thousands of our Sefardic brothers. But he remained in his office.

In France until 1942 he was not like his lesser known cousin Reb Zalman active in rescue in setting up schools orphanages and Reb Zalman did even more and more, but after the War he found no place, certainly not in the new Chabad. Rabbi Huberband and of Warsaw risked his life recording Orthodox life in the ghetto praising many but stating the truth about young men of a certain Chasidim sect.

In Hungary ,the rabbis were set to leave after April 1944 the giants there had nothing to say in terms of any form of resistance.Oy roei Israel Woe the shepherds of Israel

Because he showed little personal courage, that trait was not to be found amongst his followers The shluchim are into chanifah and money, not leadership.Mem like Shalini,Boteach and probably others were out.

Clearly the Rebbe was worried about completion, shown by history treatment of R SZ Schneerson,R Avrohom Mayorer and probably others. He did not wa

Interesting.

But you cook up a delicious cholent of ideas.

Indeed there were many Hassidic leaders and other rabbis who showed courage in WW2 like Radziner Rebbe,Kovner Rav,Rabbi Nissenbaum of Warsaw, and yes even a liberal Rabbi like Dr Leo Back.

But usually these rabbis were killed or in the case of Rav Michel Weismandel silenced by the ultra charedi establishment in US

R. Yisdocher Teichtal travelled through Hungary warning the Jews of the Nazis in late 43 and 44 but was greeted by derision. He too was killed.

Now our Rebbe, in the o.ne case where his courage was needed ho failed that was during the CH riots where he was no where to be found.

I received a phone call from the American Aguda asking for help in identifying leaders in CH.

Eventually the spokespeople were 2nd rate like late R But man and Mr Abba Paktiel.

Where was the Grand Rabbi ?

And by now we know why Rabbi YK was also no where to be found yet he always had time to socialize with Mormon visitors,Grand Rabbi Rick Jacobs and others.

No in his own Daled Amos the Rebbe I am saddened to write failed.

Indeed in matters related to Israel he showed leadership In matters related to Soviet Jewry it was a mixed bag And finally in matters related to the post Rebbe period,he did not have the courage to leave clear guidance and state the name of 1person in CH or Israel out of at least 25,000 male followers.

Another instance of faux courage was his battle against the only grandson of the Rayaatz NE. He did not take his own instructions and that of our Talmud to mekarev Rabbi Bere Gourary, rather mistakenly worried that Gourary wanted the benkel,he destroyed him in Chabad.

I miss the Rebbe's leadership on Israel,on the value of Jewish neighborhoods,Jewish pride etc,but as a different breed of Lubavitzer,I look at him objectively as a great but challenged Jewish leader

There was recently a video on CH pogrom published by the WSJ. https://www.wsj.com/video/wsj-opinion-get-the-jew-the-crown-heights-riot-revisited/CE68D629-8DB8-4CD3-B30A-92112C102054?mod=opinion_lead_pos12

But I fail to see how this even on the list to compare.

The older I get,the more I believe that the true path of Orthodoxy lies with the Zionist Dati camp in Israel.

They study fight and die for Israel and Judaism. Their rabbis in most cases join the IDF.

Chabad has the right idea ie bringing Judaism to distant corners but their methods smack of triumphalism, condensation and Madison Ave.In other words the movement lost its soul some time in the1970s.

New leadership and a counter reformation is sorely needed.

The shluchim usually mean well, but their personal arrmementarium is meager and few are groomed for leadership, rather they are told to followed their local flock as the gmora tells us will be the case in the Messianic era.
