On the subject of A Jew can't be a professional Jew. I was going to do a podcast with Rabbi Green. I don’t do puff pieces, but I also avoid jumping people like the gotcha media. So I sent a list of questions to Rabbi Green. In response crickets. Not even a courteous “get lost”. Maybe he didn’t like that I wanted to ask him about his father, who died during Covid? We definitely differ on the role of Chabad.
Sergei Dovlatov: “We are not better than native born Americans, and, of course, not smarter. We’ve just been to the last stop of this bus.”
Lubavitch Chabad — a New Yevsektsiya
Rabbi Green was a shliyach in Westborough, located midway between Worcester and Boston. Rabbi Green became an anti-vax celebrity during Covid. As an unexpected result he was taken off the “holy list”. Head Shaliyach in Worcester, Mendel Fogelman, director of the Central Massachusetts Chabad, told Haaretz that Green’s social media posts were “contrary to the organization’s mission and a direct conflict with the sacred task for which he was appointed.” We will address the “sacred task” later in the post.
I prepared for the podcast with a thorough field research: Were you involved in Green's herem? Absolutely not. What can you say about Mendel Fogelman? He is an even bigger meshugener than Green! More in-depth research: You grew up in Worcester, what can you say about Mendel Fogelman? I'd rather not talk, out of respect for his father. Nu, common now. He is a businessman… After his father died, he muscled out his bother-in-law Liberow and became the head shaliyach [of Central MA].
Deuteronomy 16
Censure from the woke and submissive to power Chabad followed by a much more serious confrontation with the Bolshevik Massachusetts.
The time of Covid was the rise of the censorship industrial complex. Critics of the vaccination were banned from the social media, careers canceled. Woke brigades started to enforce “diversity, equity, and inclusion”, they switched on the left turn blinker towards Marxist “progressive” dictatorship (after October the 7th it morphed into an open Antisemitism). Chabad has chosen that very moment to come out of the closet as a new Yevsektsiya and signal supreme obedience to the almighty power of the big pharma and the state. You don’t expect this from a tradition wiped out by communism and Stalin. But then Ramash already assured them, there is nothing more “sacred” than the PR.
Even if it was an honest misunderstanding, to my knowledge, no one, not Mendel Fogelman or Moshe Kotlarsky, asked for forgiveness. More importantly, no one assisted Rabbi Green in the time of peril.
Dr. Fauci, who financed the creation of the COVID-19 virus, “Gain-of-Function” research in Wuhan with the US government grants, Dr. Fauci is left unscathed. Let that sink in. He is the hero of the left!
The story gets foggy. I was going to ask Rabbi Green himself. Kizur, Rabbi Green ran from Westborough, Massachusetts like the Alter Rebbe from Napoleon. Or, like (insert a name here) from Stalin. Rabbi Green bought a farm in Kentucky that he calls a homestead, where he currently resides. If there was a more unoriginal Jewish idea of the past 200 years than going to live on a farm, I would like to know what it is? The Jews are urban dwellers, this is our blessing, this is our curse. Although, can you really call Westborough urban? Jews escaped Boston after liberals resettled blacks in the Jewish neighborhoods. Jews fled to the Westerns suburbs of Boston. Massive assimilation ensued. Pinya Krinsky used to tell a story that once in Dorchester, when they needed a shabbes goy, they walked block upon block until they could find somebody who wasn’t Jewish.
Worcester — Turn out the Lights, the Party's Over
New England was an industrial powerhouse of America and the world, what China is today. People in New England used to know how to craft beautiful things. They took pride in their skills and trade. This role slowly diminished over the century. In the past 30 years, Worcester succumbed to the final push of NAFTA, etc. Unlike Boston, Worcester had no alternative economic sources. It’s one of the thousands of devastated towns in America. Devastated families and lives.
The Fogelman school sent a letter, perhaps in jest, that the school has $150K in debt and if they don’t collect on the debt, they would not be able to open the school for that season. Some core community members took the warning seriously and moved out. When Fogelmans realized what was happening, they rushed to say no, will open the school anyway… But it was already too late. Turn out the Lights, the Party's Over!
Boston — Bad to the Bone
Boston has three major industries: universities, big pharma and hospitals. You really have to see how the city empties of college students in the summer to understand the impact on the economy. There is a symbiosis between the three branches. Universities supply the science (Moderna founded by an MIT professor), big pharma manufactures and markets, then hospitals and doctors push the drugs. The drug trade is tremendously additive to Boston’s economy. Major buildings, museums, were built by the Sackler family. The construction industry is anchored by pharma offices and labs, university campuses and hospitals. Plus suburban homes and condos for people who work in the three trades.
Virtually every shule has benefitted from hosting doctors, medical biologists and even pharma stocks windfalls, especially during Covid. Not just Chabad. Chay Odom, the final stand of the misnagdim, allegedly had a large donation from a Pfizer stockholder.
If Rabbi Green wanted to toggle with the big pharma, Boston is the absolute worst place to do it in the entire world. Everyone is on the take. And the woke government is inevitably on the side of “justice”. The state is nowhere as deep and woke as it’s in Boston. In fact, wokeness was invented here. Harvard, the Vatican of wokeness, curates and directs the post-American, post-human religion.
Who is your Daddy?
A common picture emerges of the new generation shluchim who assumed their “sacred task” at the turn of the millennium. Especially in Boston. There is often an eccentric Chabadsker father and the family of modest means. Plus, these men boys lived through the loss of “everyone's father”. These shluchim don’t have secular or even strong Jewish education. They are indifferent to politics. Similar to the millennial generation, they care less about the religion or ethics and more about money. The new generation shluchim are devoted to Chabad as someone is earnest about a winning stock, a nice tenbagger. Besides a PhD in backslapping, they have no education, no sense of history, no sense of political moment, no skills and no discernible or developed talent. They are лавочники, a shopkeepers type, that are called to impersonate a Rabbi. Their sermons are a torture if you are cursed with paying attention. Chabad is their lucky ticket to the concentric circles around power and money. But an eccentric father obsessed with religion is often a defining influence, defining trauma.
Get to know the hevre. Mayshe Schwartz, he is in Brookline, the area adjacent to Longwood area hospitals. Hirschy Zarhi works the Harvard (woke central and Jew hate central). His brother Meir, who came here after Hirschy did the “market analysis”, is in downtown, in the area next to Mass General hospital. I heard that he “wanted to go after doctors and Jews who can afford to live downtown”. For an alleged spiritual organization, it’s remarkable how cynical this group is. Mendy Uminer plows the richest American zip code in Chestnut Hill (I know nothing about his father). I would throw Dan Rodkin into this group, although he is a Russian BT. Mendel Fogelman is certainly part of this father-son dynamic. When a child is determined that he will not live like his father, it becomes the foundational force.
The young shluchim arrived in the Bay State with a rebellion against Chaim Prus, who, in their words, “has done nothing in Boston for 30 years.” This is true, except his accomplishment in the “sacred” real estate and the unsuccessful attempt to get a “sacred” pot dispensary license. Chaim Prus had to go to Beis Din to defend his meaningless “head” title from the invaders. He didn’t know there will be an invasion, he had a wrong “conceptzia”. Who really wants to come here? He never worked on the mafia angle like Cunin in California. Chaim Prus himself fits this father/son dynamic rather nicely, albeit with a Russian accent. The time has proven that the invaders are not that much different from Prus, they feed the same childhood wound, the same hunger.
But in New England, something terrible filters into your bloodstream. Not the vaccine. A substance more deadly, that destroys your soul. A person who has no soul to begin with has a big advantage here. Rabbi Green fought for his soul and ended up in the bloody Kentucky.
Does Chabad have a “conceptzia” of what they are trying to achieve here besides vacuuming the Jewish nostalgia money? Not long before Boston becomes just another Worcester.
עוד ארבעים יום ונינוה נהפכת
Doing business with this group is a nightmare. They are addicted to freebies that some of their dopey congregants provide, and in general gleefully oblivious to their “privilege” or luck. Even when you supply the freebees, they don’t understand and don’t appreciate. There is never a thank-you. They don’t have experience in real life, so they rely on their handlers, donors, to make decisions for them. If left to their devices, it’s like watching an elephant in a skating ring in slow motion. So you treat them like kids who never had to earn a buck or make a life-altering decision. Some contractors, who worked for this group, left at the end of the job with “I will never work with another Rabbi again” (heard a Jewish contactor say this with a flourish of astounding details. This month I had to call the same contractor, he is still talking about it).
Speaking of Worcester. Alex, a traditional Russian man, he ran a medical transportation business. He was a generous member of Mendy Uminer’s shule (richest zip in the USA). Accused of bribing some bureaucrats in Worcester, Alex took a little vacation in the penitentiary, his business lost. Kizur, Alex, was stunned that everyone in that shule turned their back on him. He made the same mistake I often make. I regularly think that if I have an idea, “conceptzia” of friendship, it also applies to other people… But knowing Mendy Uminer, I am not surprised.
As I mentioned, this group doesn’t have conviction or care for politics. Currently, when leadership is required, they remain passive, politically correct. They defer to their left-leaning congregations. Shamefully hiding behind the so called Chabad neutrality to politics.
Of course, there are many shluchim in the outer suburbs. New shluchim still parachuted here even now. They are like vultures, scavengers, if they see a dying community, they start circling, waiting for the spoils. The main vector here is not “what can we do for a dying community” but “what a dying community can do for us”. Maybe, if “lucky”, they can grab a valuable community property?
This reminds me of the late Rabbi Cement, he had a “sacred task” to befriend 80-90 year olds. Speaking of Cement, in the past 20 years, they didn’t open a single new school or heder. Don’t count Rodkin because he took everything from Moishe Gurkov, the school and the building. Everything Gurkov built during his 50 years in Boston before the heartbreak and “confusion” after 3 tamuz.
Getting back to Rabbi Green. The first time I saw him, I was shocked. He has, like we say in mother Russia, “an intelligent face”. It was so different from the regular Chabad peasants, his peers. The shopkeepers лавочники. From that moment on, his membership in the organization was a foretold conclusion. It was already inevitable.
What Rabbi Green says about Berl Lazar and Avraham Berkowitz. I have been saying this for 20 years. If true about Berkowitz, what a grifter hack! It’s not enough for Lazar to play an eager Putin’s flunky? Does he need to suck up to the dark prince of the globalist doom, Klaus Schwab? Is there anything left in Lubavitch Chabad besides the naked worship of political power, money, and PR?
עולם הפוך ראיתי עליונים למטה ותחתונים למעלה
I am rereading this whole thing, and it strikes me, how silly and small this is, compared to the war and hostages. Rabbi Green should have moved to Israel. We all should. Bibi was wrong about turning Israel into the testing and marketing center for Pfizer. But Rabbi Green’s anti globalist rants, post October the 7th, are tone-deaf.
מקימי מעפר דל מאשפות ירים אביון
Nobody cares about this lomdus. This post is about a death of a large community. Can you be more tone-deaf. I know you can't.
Great idea, but, sadly not possible for most. We have to use the facilities that exist to the best of our abilities. My personal experience- my oldest son is a tremendous תלמיד חכם which is going thrugh shas second time , has successfull car leasing bussiness etc. My 2 other sons are illiterate as far as I am concerned. I guess that is 33%. I do not think lubavich is any worse ( I do have pretty close ties)
