Richard Hanania on the Biomechanics Trump
Richard Hanania articulated something I have been thinking about:
“It’s not about issues at all. There’s simply a deep and personal connection between Trump and the Republican voter. At most, how one talks about issues matters in an indirect way; Trump has to pay just enough lip service to things that Republican voters believe to reassure them that he is their leader.”
and
“There’s a cultural trope of the woman who can’t force herself to be attracted to the guy who “checks every box” and instead is drawn to men her friends say are bad for her.”
and
“The Republican voter is not attracted to ideas, but has a sense of alienation from elites and mainstream institutions, and simply wants someone loud and obnoxious enough to fight with them. And since he mostly just wants to grill and politics is a secondary concern in his life, he is not tuning in unless the show is particularly entertaining.”

Trump and Ramash
It’s a mistake to dissect the Rebbe and Trump based on policy decisions or smart hiring practices. If we were electing the president based on smarts, and the issues, Vivek would win. Instead, Vivek is only good for a round of talk shows. Cleverly putting down those actors of the censorship industrial complex. But as President Biden already proven, that’s not the point.
Trump hired the wrong people for virtually every position. Then he fired them. Occasionally, it seems he is only interested in hiring pretty girls or the ex generals. Big baby, he collects the toy soldiers and the barbies.
The Rebbe had a fear of substantive people. He was insecure that way. You had to express allegiance or have an unoriginal, suppressed personality, AKA bittul, to be admitted into the Rebbe’s orbit. Examples are too many. We spoke here of Zalman Schneerson, in a “normal” world, the Rebbe would beg Zalman to be on his “team”. He had big plans, he needed the best people for the revolution. But no, he was more interested in the slogans and the tumult and the cult than the actual revolution. Just like Trump’s flattery, the Rebbe required the praise, how else would you explain the cult as in culture?
Trump Rallies are like Rebbe’s farbrengens, a running in the loop of the same catchphrases over and over. And people didn’t care, they were there for the “experience”. Build that Wall! Lock her up! We want Moshiach now! Build the Temple! Lock Barry up! The crowds clapping and dancing in revelry! Didan Nozach! There are in it for the experience that Trump understands their grievances deeply. That the Rebbe feels the bitter golus in his bones! That a miracle is possible! Those are the deep primordial layers of the human soul.
The Rebbe polices, mivzoim, an incomprehensible and irrational disaster. Minute of silence? Public (and private) schools today are the indoctrination centers of the state-sponsored priests of the woke religion. Where is that minute of silence when they are getting ready to chop off your penis? And by the way, not a single person in Chabad is standing up to wokeness, or the transgender madness for children. Michoel Green dared to speak against the vaccines, and the obedient to the state and to the donors apparatchiks rushed to excommunicate him.
And yet, despite it all, people were and are attracted to the Rebbe. They are attracted to the alpha male and his hopeful promises. This is the secret of Trump’s popularly in Chabad, people sense the same archetype. And the Rebbe’s genius is just a detail. It doesn’t add to the archetype or subtracts from it. The alpha male stands on his own, regardless of facts and details. It is not on the rational or conscious layer.
Who cares that Trump actually didn’t build that wall, and the Rebbe didn’t build the Temple. Who cares, that the Rebbe’s Moshiach was a big flop. Or that Trump didn’t stand up to the Deep State capture of the institutions of the American life. Never mind the facts or the actual accomplishments, but thanks for the hopeful sweet memories and the entertainment.
Trump had the Deep State fighting him every step of the way, and who was fighting the Rebbe, little Bere Gourary?
RMS was a personality substitute for Torah for tradition and for true religion.
You can’t possibly believe the crap you write in this article.
“Trump Rallies are like Rebbe’s farbrengens, a running in the loop of the same catchphrases over and over.“
Have you ever watched a single complete Farbrengen of the Rebbe, and witnessed the thousands of chiddushei Torah that left his mouth throughout his 40+ years of farbrenging?
If I didn’t have a day job I would quote and explain the absurdness every line of this literal pile of horse manure.
What do you have against Chabad? Did a bochur on the street once not see your yarmulka and mistakenly ask if you were Jewish? Or did you receive too many Parsha emails from the Shliach in your area?
