Reb Bere Gourary clearly told me that Luba Schneerson was a dissident Marxist that translates as a Trotskyite.

Indeed Larger Than Life was the first serious attempt at an objective bio of Rabbi Schneerson.

Files in various Israeli government archives are missing as there was a reason Rabbi Scheerson who tod Jerusalem rabbis that he was the authentic Neturei Karta hugged and kissed a man who x as Minister of Education and /or culture did much... for our Sefardic brothers.Yet he was about the only one to get this manner of greeting,I doubt Rav Baruck Shimon or Reb Benzion got this sort of welcome in the gan eden hatachton

Zalman, it comes from misreading the name in Hebrew לוֹבֵה Loyova but reading it as Luba without nikud. Result of not knowing or understanding of Russian names.

See mazeyve here of Levi Yitzhok Schneerson: https://mentalblog.substack.com/p/levi-yitzchak-schneerson-take-two

I don't know who made up the name nickname Luba, maybe SSD. The real name is Лёва or Lyova, diminutive for Lev or Lion. Luba is girl's name and, definitely is incorrect.

Fascinating post. It does say that the Ramash mother was concerned (with impressive Hebrew proficiency), but nothing about Reb Levik; He has a Star of David on his Headstone. Friedeker Rebbe was quite buddy-buddy with R' Kook.

When it comes down to it, the Rebbe ruled like R' Yosef Zevin, Yeshivah Students must serve the State. Everyone must serve in a necessary war. And he used R' Zevin's legal reasoning as well (self-defense). R' Levik must have been more understanding of Zionism than the ones locked up north (Until they moved to Rostov? when is the Rashab's Anti Zionism dated? When did the impending doom become more likely than not? Rashab was sick as well.)
